Looking Back on Our Second Quarter of 2021
Hi friends!
As we say bye bye to the second quarter of 2021, we’d like to share some highlights of the last three months with you! At a snapshot, this post will cover:
Our events:
Friendzone Fridays (open to all)
Friendzone Community Development Workshop (for organisations)
Virtual Co-working
Our future plans
Let’s get to it!
Our events:
Between March and June, we continued to hold our monthly Friendzone Singapore gatherings over Zoom. Friendzone Singapore’s are open to young adults all across Singapore, and hosted every first Friday night of the month. At every session, we mapped out commonalities between participants in terms of skills, hobbies and interests. This created opportunities for deeper connection and invited personal sharings of life experiences!
In June, we also hosted an Asset-Based Community Development workshop for officers of The Boys’ Brigade!
To further BB’s mission of youth-centric leadership development and community service, Grace and Tham shared how the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach can be applied to uncover and tap on existing community assets to enable community-driven growth between and across Boys Brigade Companies in Singapore. During the 2-hour session, Friendzone also facilitated meaningful exchanges between Boys’ Brigade officers, covering topics related to their brigade challenges, breakthroughs and experiences!✨
Enjoying Virtual Working
You might be curious to know - where does the FZ team work from? In line with the heightened measures, we’ve shifted to remote working - though working no less closely! Friendzone works out of Crater, a co-working space based out of Nanyang Girls High that has shifted virtually to Gather.town - complete with a library, office, classrooms and even a beach! This helpful application enables us to walk up to our colleagues and start a conversation unimpeded, as we’d do in real life. Fun!
Looking to the future
While we’ve been a little quiet on the neighbourhood front, we’ve got a series of exciting things in the works. Here’s a sneak peak at what’s happening behind the scenes!
Evaluating Our Impact
Our programmes team has been hard at work examining Friendzone’s impact over the last three years - how effective our events have been at forging ties within the community, and how these ties have impacted the social well-being of FZ participants. These insights will be shared with you once we’ve completed our interviews and analysis. Stay tuned!
Growing Our B2B Outreach
At the same time, we’re consolidating our company’s offerings which include developing workshops for organisations with community-building objectives. In line with this, we’ll be revamping our current website (www.friendzone.sg) to better showcase our event offerings towards organisations, such as a client kit, in-depth testimonials, and more!
That’s All, Folks!
And that’s a wrap on our goings-on for the second quarter of this year! We hope you’re as excited as we are for the future and the possibilities they hold. If you’re interested in attending a FZ Online session, head here to see which neighbourhoods we’ll be visiting next, or register for Friendzone Friday happening on the first Friday of every month.
Till next time - stay happy and healthy! 👋🏻
