What to Expect at a Friendzone Event

Hello there! You might be wondering: What happens at a ✨Friendzone event✨?

“What activities will I be doing?”

“Who will I meet?”

“What if things get awkward?”

What Types of Events
Do We Have?

Before we dive into what happens at our events, let's explore the different types of Friendzone experiences we offer! Each category is designed to help you connect with like-minded people in different ways.

Beyond our regular events, we also offer interactive workshops that teach the friendship and conversation skills they never taught you in school — perfect for individuals wanting to grow their social confidence or teams looking to strengthen workplace relationships. Check out our workshops here.

So what can you actually expect when you come for a Friendzone event? Here are some things you’ll experience…

1) Potential new friends

Whether it’s meeting people for the first time or coincidentally finding someone from your old primary school, there’s always room for discovering new friendships at our events. Just think of the event as a way to kickstart a friendship journey! Meeting someone is just the first step to getting to know a friend for the future 😄

2) Structured, Yet Comfortable – You'll Want to Join In

Want to get to know others, but don’t know where to start?

Fret not, we’ve got just the solution! Our events make it easy for introverts and shy folks to feel comfortable stepping in. Small group sizes ensure everyone gets a chance to speak without feeling overshadowed.

Here's what awaits you:

Check-In Activity: Look out for our colourful A3 poster boards at the registration table. Vote for your answer to our opener question with stickers—it's a fun way to get your brain thinking about the day’s topic.

Dinner Rotation:
We may assign you to a different group from your main group just for dinner, giving you the chance to connect with even more people.

Icebreakers: Ever tried speed-dating? This is speed-friending! You'll have 3 minutes to chat with 1 or 2 others and get into the headspace of the topic.

Small Group Conversations:
The highlight of the event — settle into your assigned group and let your friendly facilitator guide discussions using our conversation cards. Dive deeper into themes, swap stories, and enjoy the experience.

3) Conversation Cards That Do the Hard Work for You

Ever met someone new and totally blanked on what to say next? Yeah, same. That's why Friendzone has thoughtfully designed conversation cards that ask open, relevant questions—so the conversation flows without any awkward pauses.

These cards do the heavy lifting when it comes to sparking conversations, taking you from light topics all the way to deeper, more meaningful discussions. Whether you're sharing your interests, hobbies, and experiences or diving into more personal themes, our conversation cards make it easy to find common ground and keep things interesting. Don't worry about awkward silences — our prompts will help you get to know people in a fun and easy way!

4) Friendly FZ staff and facilitators!

You need to be part of a good community in order to build a good community, and Friendzone peeps are no exception 🥳 The Friendzone staff and Community Facilitators are here to make sure your time at a Friendzone event is nothing less than an enriching and fun one~ They’ll help help guide the conversation, gently encourage quieter participants to speak up and make sure everyone has the opportunity to contribute.

You can think of us as potential new friends too!

Feel free to approach any of us if you have any queries before, during, or after the event and we’ll be sure to guide you — we don’t bite (unless it’s a good makan recommendation).

5) Delicious food and snacks!

What would an event be without some good food? While we don’t provide food at every event, some of our sessions include delicious meals and drinks so that our participants have enough energy to have fun! We mostly hold our events in the evenings, so we usually cater dinner for our participants. Occasionally, we host afternoon events and may offer teatime goodies such as bread, cakes or cookies.

Bonus: It doesn’t end there…

In the final 30 minutes of the session, we'll be closing in the larger group setting and letting you know what happens post-event.

Your conversations don’t have to end here! Feel free to exchange contacts or social media handles and invite your new pals for supper and keep the convos going.

At Friendzone, we hope to create thriving communities across Singapore where individuals feel connected with one another and live fulfilled lives. We hope to bring diverse people together at events and spark conversations that lead to new connections, friendships and collaborations.

Sign up for one of our upcoming events! You'll be glad you did 😊
